Hi there, I hope you’re having a good summer! Here are some things that are uplifting me right now, maybe you’ll find something that brings a bit more joy into your life, too.
Summer Space Clearing
For me, summer means decluttering my closet, and I love sending my clothes to ThreadUp. It feels really good to know that my pieces can be enjoyed by someone else.
And for the first time, I bought something from ThreadUp – a cocktail dress for an upcoming party. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money for something I’d probably never wear again. The dress was a bargain, and it looks and fits great! I might actually wear it more than once, but whenever I’m done with it, I know where to send it.
Summer Face
I’ve been surfing for a decade now, and have tried every face sunscreen. I’m happy to say I’ve finally landed on the best one: TruPhysical Inellishade by Revision. It’s 45 spf, has a great tint that evens out every skintone, and stays on in the water. My face has never burned since I started wearing it. I love it so much I use it every day, even when I’m not surfing.
Summer Drink
I let go of alcohol a couple years ago, and am thrilled to see more companies making zero-proof drinks that really satisfy. My current favorite is Spring in a Bottle Rose by Wolffer, a small vineyard in the Hamptons. It’s the perfect Rose – not too sweet, not too dry, and perfect for summer.
Summer Read
Looking for a good spiritual book? I just finished Jan Frazier Love Incarnate: Twenty Years After Awakening. I loved her earlier book, When Fear Falls Away: The Story of a Sudden Awakening. Reading about her experience was a turning point in my spiritual understanding. To see the gentle, loving awareness she has towards life (and aging) two decades later is inspiring and uplifting. She’s quietly showing us how it’s done.
Summer Scent
Lavender – it’s good for everything! Studies have proven lavender:
- Helps Sleep
- Reduces Anxiety and Depression
- Relieves Headaches
- Speeds up the healing of wounds
A few years ago, I planted lavender near my pool, and every year it grows like crazy. The bees love it, too.
Summer Attitude Shift
The theme of my summer is Acceptance. Letting go of expectations and going with the flow. The death of a parent, the health scare of a loved one, the cancelling of summer travel plans. Relaxing into what is, seeing the gifts that exist here and now. Most of all, practicing self-acceptance and self-love.
Also, I’d like to take this moment to express my gratitude to YOU . Thank you for being here.
Wishing you happy days, with happy people, in happy places
